Watercolour Sky Background

This card was really relaxing to make. I love the background effect it created.

Whisper White (106549)

- 3 3/4" x 5 7/16" & Scrap

Basic Black (121688)

- 3 15/16" x 5 11/16"

Whisper White Thick (140490)

- 5 13/16" x 8 1/2" (Scored at 4 1/4")

Here's how I made it:

Firstly, start by stamping the Highland Cow from the Yuletide Pasture Stamp Set on to some scrap Whisper White Cardstock, using Memento Ink.

Now using the Early Espresso Watercolour Pencil, Colour the horns in. Use hard pressure to get a nice dark shade.

Colour the shade areas of the cow with medium pressure.

Finally, shade over all the cow with light pressure.

Use a Blender pen to blend the shades and smooth the image. This gives a watercolour effect rather than a a pencil effect.

Use Paper Snips the fussy cut out the cow.

Now to make the background. To make a Sunset effect, lightly shade the top of the card with Cherry Cobbler Watercolour Pencil.

Next Shade the Sky with Real Red.

Tip: Overlap the colours slightly. This helps blend the sky.

Now use Pumpkin Pie for the sky as before.

Finally use Daffodil Delight.

Now for the Grass. Create tufts of grass, starting with Old Olive.

Tip: Make the tufts a variety of different sizes and randomly placed.

Now repeat with Shaded Spruce.

Finally, repeat with Granny Apple Green.

Use all the greens to lightly shade over all the grass area.

Take the Blender pen brush over the sky to blend all the colours. Working from side to side and top to bottom.

No flick the Blender pen over the grass tufts to give texture.

Use Gorgeous Grape Watercolour pencil to create little flowers.

Again use the Blender pen and flick over the flower.

Align and adhere the Cow to the centre of the card. I used Stampin' Seal.

Using a sentiment from the Yuletide Pastures Stamp Set, align between the horns and stamp using Memento Ink.

Align and adhere the card front to the Basic Black Cardstock.

Finally, align and adhere this to the Thick Whisper White card base.
